The winner is the Earth!

...UPDATE...

Ok so the one I will develop will have a large paper earth on it. Thank God the paper boat didn't get picked I really hated that one. There were many great designs in class I think that this contest will have another winner from SFCC. It just shows the kind of excellence that SFCC inspires all of us to achieve. Take a look at the design to be devleoped into an ad campaign for paper recycling.

Friday.

I sit in lab class listening to presentations about Graphic Design Firms. Waiting for projects class to see which Ad Campaig my projects Instructor is going to pick for me to design. I hope he picks the apple or the earth. The boat idea is just plain dumb, I am not happy with it at all.

Here are my three rough designs

Work, Work Work

It seems like the creative process never ends. Proceeding with the creation of my Roughs for Fridays review. One of my posters was not pertaining to paper recycling it spoke more toward the Whoas of Toxic Waste Dumping. So I had to come up with a new headline. The other two still are looking great. I hope that either the World Poster or the apple tree get picked. The paper boat just looks silly.

Sign of from Process.....

I finished three semi-tight rough, have just a bit more to bring them into focus. But I got a sign off from my Process Instructor. Will be showing these to my Projects Instructor on Friday to see which one he would like to run with.

Once this is decided I will then make a Poster, Black and White newspaper ad and a magazine ad. A full Ad Campaign all tied together with one concept.

Working toward a solid Rough....

Coming up with new and innovative concepts is tedious. Especial when given the challenge of making a visual analogy. As for the facts concerning the topic of paper recycling, we were given the web address of a few sites with good facts from which to base our text for the ad campaign. This was very useful.

I have selected two ideas to make into roughs, the first is a boat made from folded news paper I saw a web site instructing how to properly fold the paper so the boat will float, the tag line will read

"What are you waiting for ? GET ON BOARD !"

The second is a tree with no leaves and only one piece of fruit which is actual the recycling logo, no tagline idea yet.

The third is nailed down to two ideas, the first is a rolled up strip of paper on fire at either end, The tagline reads

"We are burning ourselves at both ends."

I will then incude some facts about recycling.

Last is a comic book super hero made up of recycled paper, and I thought I could have him fight the bad non recyclers into recycling. Yea that ides relay needs work I know, but hell I was sick and it was 2am when I came up with the idea.

The Photo Shoot....

Well yesterday was the Photo Shoot for my Package design. Once I was able to get there the shoot went great, I got some great shots to select from. The Photographer and his assistant were very profesional and had a good eye for detail. They had questions for me as to how I wanted to have the shot lined up and layed out. I However left most of those details up to them. The only detail I was realy interested in was a good shot that focused on the lable which I designed.

I have my perfect shot selected down to one of three. I need to take it to R&R Photo and get a print made of it. Get it mounted and turned in.

Digital Comps.!

Well Digital Comps, for my package design are due today. Had many problems with Kinkos, their color copiers are crap and they sent me to three different locations. I ended up printing the comps off on my printer at home. They look prety good, Hope that there wont be any difficult revisions before my Photoshot which is scheduled for Wednesday the 9th.

Deadlines......

Dealing with deadlines can be a frustrating process. Muttleing through the work just to have something to hand in is never a good thing. You should always persivere to do the best job you can ultimately the work you put out is a direct reflection of yourself.

Clio Awards..

The 2005 Clio Awards luncheon was fantastic. I made a couple of industry contacts. Which is good, contacts that can help me find work after I graduate.

For lunch we had chicken salad sandwiches, and a fudge brownie.

We also watched a film highlighting some of the best commercials for the year. It was very entertaining, and funny.

I am working on my package design in the Lab at SFCC I need to get my printing card so I can print the lable out and fix it to my bottle. My photo shoot is Wednesday the 9th at 7:30am. I need to have it all worked out so I can get my project in on time.
