Desolation Digest

Desolation Digest is the title for an online magazine I am creating. I communicated with three individuals today. Two of whom will most likely come on board the project. I am still shooting for a December or January release of the first issue.

Life Update......

It has been quite a while since I even thought about posting anything.

To begin with my Mother passed away three years ago on Christmas Day. I had been caring for her the last 15 years. After her passing I kind of lost all track and sense of self, found myself very depressed.

Well moving forward, I have in mind a new project to start. A kind of online PDF magazine, I will be the editor in chief, and take submissions and try to do this bi monthly. With any luck I can get the first issue out within the next two months. I want to aim for a December 1st release date.

Spokane Adfed welcomes Neil Gurney

Today the Spokane Advertising Federation meet at the MAC
for breakfast and we welcomed the former CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Africa, Neil Gurney to come and give a presentation to our local group of Advertising professionals. Neil came to discus with us the ideas of branding and marketing, by sharing with us how he and his firm made Guinness extremely popular in Africa. Showing the way an icon can affect a product and showing some of the commercials which made the campaign work.

By creating a character Michael Power , Saatchi & Saachi then created several commercials at a run time of four minutes. These mini movies helped make Guinness become a monster which influenced a continent. This was a very large campaign taken by the company which in the end paid off.

AdFed at the MAC

The Spokane AdFed starts meeting again on Wednesday October 3rd. I have paid my $10.00 fee for the meeting and look forward to seeing my fellow designers and Admen at the meeting it has been a long summer and this will give me something to do.

I continue to look for a position as a Graphic Designer so far no success. I continue to develop leeds as well as making contacts through networking. I had two offers from companies out of town one was in Phenox, Arizona the other was in Austin, Texas. However neither offerd a relocation expenses. This negated my ability to accept either offer.

Classes at DVR

I have been taking some classes at DVR, The Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. A service available to disabled people who can use assistance in finding work. So far the classes have been very useful.

The 2007 Addys

Well the 2007 Addys for the Spokane Advertising Federation were last night and the show was a blast. Last year the event was held at The Big Easy, this year the anual awards show was held at a wonderful spot called Ella's Supper Club as last year the eats were excellent. There were many interesting and innovative items. Several print and multimedia items. I missed the deadline this year which was kind of a let down, I had three items I would have liked to have entered. I will just have to be sure to pay better attention for next years show.
